Sacred Arts / Our Teachers

Deborah McAulay

Deborah McAulay was introduced to yoga as a child and has always been drawn to the spiritual path. She met her master at age 22 and became steeped in the practices of meditation, contemplation and yoga. Her love of creativity and nature drew her to develop programs for children and young adults combining creative arts with a deeper awareness and exploration of the natural environment. She currently sits on the board of a local NGO promoting environmental awareness, sustainability and holistic arts. She is a Mother of 3, and her love of nature and spirit recently found a new expression in Cha Dao, the way of Tea. Since then, she has been using every opportunity to study, visit and experience Tea, from the plant to the bowl to the Heart.
Classes & private trainings
Tea Ceremony Meditation
Cha Dao, or the Way of Tea, offers us the space to remember our connection to nature. This offering will introduce 'bowl tea' and the essence of simplicity and meditation. We will share tea together in silence and connect to this plant teacher as a bridge to the meditative mind as we cultivate inner harmony and awakened presence. There will be a few moments at the end for discussion, reflection and questions.

TEA
Three Bowls of Tea
The making and sharing of a few bowls of Tea gives rise to a profound experience expressing a spectrum of beauty found in the mundane. This offering is a glimpse into a tea ceremony where one may enter into calm and stillness as they embark on a journey towards the awakened mind. Tea will be shared in silence and there will be a few moments for reflections the end. A perfect interlude during the day for the wind between the pines to be heard in our kettle.
