Connect, Respect, Protect – Sustainable Solutions at Fivelements
Earlier this May, Fivelements Retreat Bali supported Sustainable Solutions, an eco-festival produced and organized by Green School Bali, gathering solution-makers aiming to connect, inspire, educate and empower our community to live more sustainably, NOW!
Over the past few decades, globalization has impaired the earth, both directly and indirectly. Moreover, in our current time, mother earth is facing a lot of environmental issues, such as climate change, overproduction of waste, illegal logging, air and water pollution, and so many more.
Sustainable Solutions Festival
Sustainable Solutions is bringing together solution providers from all backgrounds – NGOs, schools, social businesses, startups, teachers, students, community members – all to gather, connect, inspire, educate, and equip our community to live more sustainably.
Green School Bali
Green School Bali is a non-profit K-12 school whose mission is to educate and gather a community of learners making our world sustainable. Green School believes children and students can come up with solutions. While adults may have more experience, children often offer more genuine solutions. While elders have the wisdom and guidance, students retain their passion that allows mountains to be shaken.
Let's give space and empower the youth for sustainable solutions.
On May 2, 2019, Fivelements Retreat Bali hosted the Sustainable Solutions Festival Opening Day, which started from the Opening Circle, followed by an inspiring discussion about Traditional Ecological (or Environmental) Knowledge – TEK, a plant-powered lunch and a series of practical workshops.
Traditional Ecological (or Environmental) Knowledge – TEK
TEK describes an accumulating body of knowledge, practice and belief, evolving by adaptive processes and handed down through generations by cultural transmission, about the relationship of living beings (human and non-human) with one another and with the environment. It encompasses the world view of indigenous people which includes ecology, spirituality, human and animal relationships, and more.
On the day, sustainability enthusiasts could choose one of the following workshops and continue to connect: Necklace Making, Canang Making, Herbal Medicinal Mix Making, Traditional Dance Warningakalinga Women.
