A Chef’s Tasting Dinner Beneath the Full Moon, Beside the Ayung River

Each month, as the full moon approaches, our full moon dinner in Ubud brings together two of the things Fivelements Ubud holds closest: ritual and the shared table. The evening begins with the Agni Hotra Fire Blessing in the riverside gardens, then continues at Sakti Dining Room with a three-course Chef’s Tasting Dinner.

It is an evening for slowing down. You can come with a partner, friends or family, or on your own to meet others from our local community. The fire sets an intention for the night, and the dinner gives you time to enjoy it.

After the ritual, guests make their way to Sakti Dining Room, where the open bamboo pavilion looks out over the lotus ponds and the Ayung River. The three-course Chef’s Tasting Dinner follows our plant-forward approach to cuisine. It draws on herbs and vegetables from the retreat’s gardens, seasonal Balinese produce and the creativity of our culinary team.

Each course is designed to nourish as well as delight, with flavours that carry the warmth of the fire into a relaxed, unhurried meal under the night sky.

The Ritual

BEGINNING AT THE FIRE

The evening opens with the Agni Hotra Fire Blessing, a ceremony from the Vedic tradition. Offerings are made to Agni, the sacred fire, while ancient Sanskrit mantras are chanted. Many traditions see the full moon as a time of completion and release, and during the ritual each guest is invited to bring a personal intention to the flame.
